MJM GS41 Strapping Head The M. J. Maillis GS41 strapping head has been designed utilizing in excess of 30 years' experience in the manufacture of strapping machines. Designed with a multitude of applications in mind, medium and heavy duty polyester and polypropylene strapping with widths of 9mm, 12mm, 16mm, and 19mm can be accommodated with tension to a maximum of 5,500N, dependent upon the model specified, is available from this robust strapping head. The strap is sealed by means of a friction weld, giving a high seal efficiency of almost 90%. The GS41 is electrically powered for safe strap transportation, giving quiet and clean operation. Two robust three phase AC motors, (simpler and safer technology than DC motors), power the unit, one for feed and tension, the other for sealing. The operation of the strapping cycle is controlled by a PLC in conjunction with four proximity switches. The transfer of power from the motors is via three poly V belt driven clutches, two electro magnetic for feed, primary tension, and sealer operation, and a virtually wear free magnetic powder clutch acting as an electrical torque converter giving a constant repeatable final tension. The use of the powder magnetic clutch enables the GS41 to utilize the elongation and memory of the strap to its optimum level. |
